What to expect at your first massage session

Knowing what to expect at your first session can help ease any anxiety you may be experiencing.  Most importantly, realize it is your massage session and I work with you to tailor it to fit your needs and comfort level.

You will be emailed a confidential intake form that will help to maximize the safety and effectiveness of your massage,  so please be sure to answer to the best of your ability.   If you can't do this prior to appointment, there will be one available to fill out at your appointment.  We do need to be aware of any allergies or medical issues to prepare so please let us know if you have any before your scheduled appointment.

We are located at 10 Lafayette Street in Swansea which is off 103 (diagonal from Dunkin Donuts) follow Lafayette St. to the very end (it is a dead end and a residential area) and we are the last property on the right.  You will turn right on to Pleasant St. (note the Swansea Spa sign on the tree)  and park in the driveway which is directly in front of the Spa.

Our spa is very peaceful and the surroundings are serene.  You are provided with total privacy because there is only one massage room so it is not a busy office.  The lighting will be soft and relaxing music will be quietly playing in the background and essential oil will lightly scent the spa.  If you prefer different music or no aromatherapy, please let me know prior to appointment so I can be sure to accommodate you.  It is your session so please be sure to let me know what your preferences are.

After our consultation to review your requests, I will leave the room to give you privacy to undress (to your comfort level) and I will knock before I re-enter when you are ready to begin your session.  The top sheet & blanket will drape you at all times and only the part of your body I am working on will be exposed.

Once you are comfortable on the heated table, I will massage you focusing on any specific areas needing extra attention.  I normally do a face massage and some reflexology on the feet; however, if you prefer not to have those areas worked on (or any other), please let me know.  If at any time you do not like any part of the massage, please let me know immediately so I am aware.  Please be sure to let me know if the pressure it too much/too light, room is too chilly, bed is too warm, etc.

I normally use a light organic oil (usually jojoba or coconut)  to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction and also to nourish your skin.  If you prefer lotion or a different type of oil, please let me know in advance.

When your session is over, I will gently alert  you with crystal and/or Tibetan bowls and I will excuse myself from the room for you to redress.  Please take your time getting up as some people may experience light-headedness after.  You will be provided  water after your massage, please be sure to hydrate for the remainder of the day.

If you have any questions regarding anything, please feel free to contact me at 508-677-5040 or email me at steph@swanseaspa.com.  Again, your comfort and satisfaction is my priority and I consider it a privilege and honor that you chose me for your massage.
