What to expect at your first massage session
Knowing what to expect at your first session can help ease any anxiety about your first session. Most importantly, realize it is your massage session and I work with you to tailor it to fit your needs and comfort level.
You will be emailed a confidential intake form that will help to maximize the safety and effectiveness of your massage, so please be sure to answer to the best of your ability. If you can't do this prior to appointment, there will be one available to fill out at your appointment.
We are located at 10 Lafayette Street in Swansea which is off 103 (diagonal from Dunkin Donuts) follow Lafayette St. to the very end and we are the last property on the right. You will turn right on to Pleasant St. and park in the driveway which is directly in front of the Spa. Our spa is very peaceful and the surroundings are serene. You are provided with total privacy because there is only one massage room. The lighting will be soft and relaxing music will be quietly playing in the background and essential oil will give the room a light scent. If you prefer different music or no aromatherapy, please let me know prior to appointment so I can be sure to accommodate you. It is your session so please be sure to let me know what your preferences are.
After our consultation, I will leave the room to give you privacy to undress (to your comfort level) and I will knock to re-enter when you are comfortable and ready to begin your session. The top sheet & blanket will drape you at all times and only the part of your body I am working on will be exposed.
Once you are comfortable on the heated table, I will massage you focusing on any specific areas needing extra attention. I do normally massage face and feet along with the body; however, if you prefer not to have those areas worked on, please let me know. Please note, when I massage your feet, there is some pressure so it will not feel ticklish. If at any time you do not like any part of the massage, please let me know immediately so I can rectify it to your preference.
I use a light oil or lotion to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to your skin. Communication is very important during your massage, I will check in several times; however, please inform me at any time if the pressure feels too deep or even too light.
When your session is over, I will gently alert you with chimes, cymbals or a crystal bowl and I will leave the room for you to redress. Please take your time getting up as some people may experience light-headedness after. You will be provided with water after your massage. Since toxins are released during a massage, it is recommended that you drink plenty of water after.
If you have any questions regarding anything, please feel free to contact me at 508-677-5040 or email me at email@example.com.
